The UK & Ireland Ocean Film Festival starts next month, and this year’s line-up of films has just been announced. We went last year and it was a memorable night.

Calling all ocean lovers!

Brought to you by the team behind the Banff Film Festival UK & Ireland Tour, this carefully curated collection of short films features sublime footage from both above and below the water’s surface, showcasing the spellbinding power and beauty of our oceans.

Celebrate the divers, surfers, swimmers and oceanographers who live for the sea’s salt spray, who chase the crests of waves and who marvel at the mysteries of the big blue. Be awed by mesmerising marine life and spectacular cinematography from unexplored depths of our planet – via the big screen!

From the staggeringly beautiful Arctic in I am Fragile, to the mind-boggling natural wonders of Mexico’s sinkholes in A Peace Within, 2019’s films journey to the least-explored depths of the planet and will introduce you to characters who have devoted their lives to the big blue!

Join extreme photographer Ben Thouard as he shoots from within the waves in Tahiti; be awed by Dan Schutter’s dedication to his passion – surfing, but in the wild, icy waters of Lake Superior – and marvel as a Cornish artist creates spectacular works of beach art.

Films start at 7:30pm. There is a bar that will be open from 6:30pm serving drinks and hot food.
