As a lot of you may know the Club has existed in the bright sunshine of the internet and the shadowy realms of social networking simultaneously and anyone who has stood within fifteen feet of me in a pub will know my views on the latter.

But what was necessary then isn't necessary now, and the time has come to let the Club find its own clear path forward and no longer serve two masters.

The site seems a relatively good fit; it'll get constantly get rejigged as I try out new ideas. The Groups approach seems to be working well for example, way better than the Forum but you only find out by doing.

Most Groups will remain public to help SEO to draw in new members. Events on the other hand.. well there's debate on that but currently they are all only visible to members - there's a poll in Club Chat for you to have your say (Club Chat is a good example of a private Group).

Membership will be a little stricter now in that everyone will need to be BeachFit and stump up £2 a month - the upside there is that members can rescue you if you get in trouble and can also afford to buy you a drink if you don't .. plus you'll be able to buy "BeachPeople - Ocean Sports" t-shirts - rare things indeed :o)

As to why this is an event rather than an announcement- I think a party would be a good idea and I'll set that up in due course so just RSVP for now and keep the date free.

I'm looking forward to a summer of positivity and good times in, on or under the water - I hope to see you there!
