The Gate in Ashley Cross no longer has an alcohol licence - this was deliberate apparently to encourage trade, and it has worked well, especially since the large new Co-op opened directly opposite.

A main and a nan is around £12, beers I guess £1 a tin - hard to break a twenty at that rate! They provide glasses and water and [pricey] soft drinks.

We are limited to six max so RSVP ASAP to grab a seat.

Meet at the gate at 7pm but beers from 5pm at the Ox for anyone who fancies it.

Or at the Cow - it's been refurbished and has a great terrace that catches the sun.
