This time I started from EDYC and headed straight to Salterns where a hell of a lot of red mossy type seaweed has spread over the bottom since my last visit (nitrates in the summer storms’ run off?) but the water was crystal clear and warm as ever. Even tho I had my fins I wasn’t tempted to swim – I just stayed in the sun and listened to music from my tow buoy for about 4k – a very zen, easy time.
On the stretch from EDYC to North Haven there’s a new area of random bricks so you need to tread carefully – I think they have been placed there by the cockle pickers – it’s a shame as the bottom was otherwise pristine and in cloudy water its gonna mean a lot of stubbed toes.
It does feel a bit like these fine September days are the summer’s swansong but it takes a good while for the water to cool down so if we see any surf then this is the perfect time to get out there – maybe some of those Atlantic storms will come through.
There is more of this great weather to come so get in the water if you can even if just for a paddle – its never a bad idea to be on the beach.
