Parking is only £2 all day off season so it begs the question "Why be so close to the beach when you still need to cross a busy road full of static ferry traffic all summer?"
The important point here is that I'm not bitter that I was hopelessly outbid.

We took £998 (two of us) from 30 or 40 people over 6 hours, we were not overworked and being on my feet nonstop from 5:30pm until 12:30am was absolutely not a problem - perhaps the wading and rowing helped who knows.
At 70% profit I can see the OSC absolutely working given my low personal running costs - it was such a brilliant affirmation that the next chapter might be a good call.
The EPOS system was intuitive the toughest part was managing the glasses and finding the right one for the right beer.
It wasn't a big venue but given the age group most of them would be double-jabbed (including me) and we had the doors open - I guess I'll know in a few days.
There is a chance I can run the bar on quiet nights as a proto-OSC to try out ideas with minimal risk - my only concern is in building the business for someone else but its better to try and fail on someone else's dollar as you get more goes ;o)

6th August 2021; we are not at the end of the beginning in our war with Covid, nor are we at the beginning of the end.. more sort of roughly in the middle where the start and end points are moving away at random rates, so this would be the most stupid time in living history to run a bar.

So I'm running a bar on Saturday night! It's a private party but it's a good tester for me and it's paid. I was cleaning the place out today after months of disuse and came across 5 nearly full bottles of spirits still with their pouring spouts on and absolutely chock full of black fly carcasses. They were left over from a full-on stag do months ago, complete with fat stripper. I guess it's the sugar that they like. (Flies, not strippers - tho in this case perhaps both).
Interestingy the rum was the preferred choice by far.
The whole lot had to be poured down the drain - all for the sake of not wrapping the tips in cling film at the end of the shift.
Despite having had an alcohol licence for many years this is my first foray behind the bar - what could possibly go wrong?
